The Orbit de-sanding pump has proven to be very successful and is becoming the
standard design adopted for the de-sanding duty in the industry. The high pressure
low speed pump coupled with excellent wear resistant material has enabled the
pump to operate in this very abrasive application.
We have now further improved the design of this pump by increasing the size of the
impeller and in doing so, upgraded the rating of the motor. This means that we can
further increase the pump pressure without needing to increase the speed of the
motor. Increasing the pressure into the de-sanding cyclone will further increase the
efficiency of sand removal. In other words, we will be able to achieve a finer cut-size
for the sand.
The size of the impeller has been increased from 320mm to 380mm. Comparing the
two pump curves, the pump with the bigger impeller will be able to achieve an extra
1 barg pressure at a typical operating capacity of 30m3
/hr.
The second generation of the Orbit pump is called ORBIT 2.
